The Judging Committee, comprised of past and present coaches, current players, and faculty, liked elements from both designs. Kyla's because of the bird in flight imagery and fierce competitive look, and Joe's for his collegiate word mark and flexibility.

"I am thrilled to be a winner of the Falcons' logo contest," said Kyla. "The logo I created was meant to embody Langara's mantra of valuing leadership, teamwork, and competition. The falcon in flight displays many qualities of a strong leader such as strength, confidence, and a demand for respect. It is an honour to have my artwork represent the College."

"Since 1994, the Langara Falcons' logo has featured a falcon's head," explained Joe. "In creating the new proposed Falcons logo I wanted to design a symbol that was an evolution of that legacy logo, one that gives a nod to the Falcons' past traditions and successes, but then update and modernize it for the coming decades. The wordmark features a stylized 'Falcons' name, outstretched to form a 'wing' on either side of the Falcon's head."

Langara will now work with both winners to revise and design the final logo. Stay tuned for more information.
