The Langara community is invited to celebrate Tanabata Matsuri on Thursday, July 4!

Tanabata, or the Star Festival, has its roots in a Chinese legend that celebrates the meeting of Orihime, the Weaving Princess, and her beloved Hikoboshi, the Cow Herder who have been separated by the Heavenly River. Represented by the stars Altair (Hikoboshi) and Vega (Orihime) they are allowed to meet on the 7th day of the 7th month when a bridge forms over the Heavenly River (the Milky Way). On this day, people leave their own wishes on bamboo branches.

Join Langara Global and the Japanese Association Langara in our latest cultural celebration! Although we will be celebrating Tanabata Matsuri, we will also be incorporating elements of Natsu Matsuri (summer festival) to add to the festivities. We invite you to leave a wish, play some games, and enjoy some tasty Japanese treats.

This event is open to all students, staff, and faculty. No registration is required.
