Following yesterday's update from the Provincial Health Officer, we wanted to provide some important reminders heading into the Easter long weekend.

Expansion of Province-wide Restrictions

Yesterday the Provincial Health Officer of BC (PHO) announced an expansion of province-wide restrictions to reduce the growing transmission of COVID-19.

  • The variance allowing indoor religious gatherings and worship services between March 28 and May 13 is suspended
  • Indoor group exercise classes are cancelled
  • Restaurants, pubs and bars are closed for indoor dining. Outdoor patio seating and take-out or delivery is allowed
  • Whistler Blackcomb ski resort is closed

We remind you that existing restrictions on social gatherings and travel remain in place:

  • All non-essential travel should be avoided. This includes travel into and out of BC and between regions of the province.
  • Indoor social gatherings with people outside your household are prohibited; those who live alone may have up to two people visit if they are the same two people
  • up to 10 people can gather outdoors, so long as you stick to the same 10 people, and maintain physical distancing and mask wearing.

Campus Health and Safety Requirements

If you have any cold or flu symptoms, do not come to campus. Individuals with symptoms are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19.

  • Limit non-essential visits to campus during this time. If you must come to campus, continue to complete the BC Thrive self-assessment every day without exception.
  • Before you come to campus, complete the COVID-19 Safety Awareness Course on Brightspace.
  • When on campus, continue to maintain physical distance as per our health and safety plans and wear a mask (including in classrooms). Please follow the cleaning protocols that have been customized for labs, classrooms, and shared spaces.

Easter long weekend

A reminder that the campus is closed this Friday, April 2 and Monday, April 5. The campus will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm for students who need to access computer labs.
