Yesterday the Provincial Health Officer of BC (PHO) announced an extension to existing province-wide restrictions to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

  • The PHO Gatherings and Events Order, which has been in effect since November 19, 2020, has been extended to February 5, 2021 at midnight.
  • All events and social gatherings are suspended to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions.
  • All non-essential travel should be avoided. This includes travel into and out of BC and between regions of the province.

We remind you to:

  • If you have any cold or flu symptoms, do not come to campus. Individuals with symptoms are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19.
  • Limit non-essential visits to campus during this time. If you must come to campus, continue to complete the BC Thrive self-assessment every day without exception.
  • Before you come to campus, complete the COVID-19 Safety Awareness Course on Brightspace. If you successfully completed this course in fall 2020, you do not need to retake this course for the 2021 Spring Semester, but please note that mask requirements have since changed).
  • When on campus, continue to maintain physical distance as per our health and safety plans and wear a mask (including in classrooms). Please follow the cleaning protocols that have been customized for labs, classrooms, and shared spaces.
  • If you have been working on campus, but can work from home, please work from home. Employees who must access campus should use their Employee ID card for building access.  By tapping in, you are also confirming that you have completed your daily BC Thrive self-assessment.
