Check-In Procedures

Before you come to campus:

1. Complete the COVID-19 Safety Awareness Course on BrightSpace. (If you successfully completed this course in fall 2020, you do not need to retake this course for the 2021 Spring Semester, but please note: mask requirements have since changed).

2. Complete your BC Thrive daily self-assessment each day you come to campus.

When you are on campus:

3. Locate your entrance.
a. Tap your smart card at the card readers located at building entrances, OR

b. Check in via the Health & Safety Check-in Stations located at the key entrances. Be prepared to answer health questions and present contact information for contact tracing.

New Smart Cards for Building Access
For all students who need access to campus, we will have “smart” access cards to simplify check in. Simply tap your new student ID (smart card) to gain entry to the building you need access to.

Students who currently have classes on campus and received a student ID in previous semesters will need to apply for a new smart card. Smart cards are not needed if you are not coming to campus.

Mask Requirements

As of November 19, 2020, masks are now required as per the Provincial Health Officer’s order that people now wear masks in all indoor public spaces.

Our Shared Responsibility

We remind you to:

  • If you have any cold or flu symptoms do not come to campus. Individuals with symptoms are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19.
  • Limit non-essential visits to campus during this time. If you must come to campus, continue to complete the BC Thrive self-assessment every day without exception.
  • When on campus, continue to maintain physical distance as per our health and safety plans and wear a mask. Please be mindful in respect to the cleaning protocols that have been customized for labs, classrooms, and shared spaces.
  • If you have been working on campus, but can work from home, please work from home. Employees who must access campus should use their Employee ID card for building access and to confirm their completion of their daily BC Thrive self-assessment.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, please follow all directives given to you by the health authority. If you develop symptoms while on campus, please notify your supervisor, and then leave campus. Please note that the Provincial Health Officer of BC’s (PHO) province-wide restrictions on Gatherings and Events remain in place until January 8, 2021 at midnight. All events and social gatherings are suspended to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions. All non-essential travel should be avoided. This includes travel into and out of BC and between regions of the province. If you have been travelling internationally in the past 14 days, please do not come to campus.

Thank you for continuing to follow the College’s health and safety protocols. For more information on our safety plans, please read our Exposure Control Plan.
