Dec 8, 2020

Yesterday the Provincial Health Officer of BC (PHO) announced an extension to existing province-wide restrictions to reduce the transmission of COVID-19.

  • The PHO Gatherings and Events Order, which has been in effect since November 19, 2020, has been extended to January 8, 2021 at midnight.
  • All events and social gatherings are suspended to significantly reduce COVID-19 transmission related to social interactions.
  • All non-essential travel should be avoided. This includes travel into and out of BC and between regions of the province.

We remind you to:

  • Stay home if you have any cold or flu symptoms.
  • Limit non-essential visits to campus during this time. If you must come to campus, continue to do the Thrive BC self-assessment every day without exception.
  • When on campus, continue to maintain physical distance as per our health and safety plans, and always wear a mask whenever you can’t maintain physical distance from others. Please also take extra care in respect to cleaning protocols in labs, classrooms, and shared spaces.
  • If you have been working on campus, but can work from home, please continue to do so.  Employees who must access campus should use their Employee ID card for building access and to confirm their completion of their daily ThriveBC self-assessment.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, please follow all directives given to you by the health authority. If you develop symptoms while on campus, please notify your supervisor, and then leave campus. Individuals with symptoms are encouraged to get tested for COVID-19.

The Langara community has been good at following the College’s health and safety protocols, and we thank you for your continued cooperation and support. All of us in BC need to do our part to help flatten the curve.
