Flu Shot Clinics

Flu shot clinics will not be offered on campus this year. Instead, we encourage you to get your flu shot through a designated flu shot provider such as a public health clinic, your family doctor, a walk-in clinic, your pharmacist, or an urgent & primary care centre. Due to COVID-19, the flu vaccine is recommended for everyone over six months of age.

To learn more about flu shots, visit the Vancouver Coastal Health Flu Shot Website or call 8-1-1. To find a flu clinic location near you, visit the BC Flu Clinic Locator

Remember, please do not come to campus if you have flu-like symptoms, even if they are mild.

The Community Cupboard has moved

The Community Cupboard is an on-campus food bank program where Langara students can anonymously pick up one week’s worth of groceries (approximately 21 meals).

The Community Cupboard will now be distributed through the Langara Bookstore and will be accessible Monday to Friday from 10:00 am-3:00 pm, except for statutory holidays or campus closures. Prior to arrival for each pick-up, students are encouraged to complete the Community Cupboard Online Form. Students will receive a confirmation email, which they will need to show to the Bookstore at pick up.

For questions about the Community Cupboard please email geninfo@langara.ca

Celebrating Safely

This autumn, as we begin to celebrate holidays that usually bring people together, it is important to keep vigilant about your personal safety. The BC Centre for Disease Control has released a new resource that will help you enjoy your holidays in a safe manner: Safer Celebrations

Provincial Election - Saturday, October 24

This year Elections BC is not running the Vote on Campus program due to reduced student presence on many campuses due to COVID-19. This means the polling place we usually host on campus will not be open. We encourage you to connect to the Elections BC website to find out where to vote and how to vote safely this election.  You can vote by mail, in person during seven days of advanced voting (October 15-21) or on election day. The deadline to register to vote is October 24. See eligibility requirements here: https://elections.bc.ca/voting/register-to-vote/.

As always, your feedback and questions can be sent to us at covidquestions@langara.ca. Our latest updates for students can be found on langara.ca/covid.
