The College has determined that the spring semester (January – April 2021) will continue in the same way as the fall semester, with the majority of instruction continuing to be delivered online, except for those courses or course modules that must be delivered face-to-face to achieve learning outcomes.

Your health and the well-being of our community continues to be our highest priority. This decision was made based on our understanding of the current BC Provincial Health Officer (PHO) safety guidelines. At this point, we do not expect that there will be major changes to these guidelines by the time registration begins in November for the spring semester. In order to allow you time to plan for your studies, the College wants to give you as much notice as possible to prepare based on the information that we have. Making this decision now also provides our instructors additional time to prepare for the spring semester in order to ensure a quality learning experience for you.

We will run the entire spring semester as outlined above, unless the PHO requires us to stop face-to-face instruction. We are closely monitoring the updates and direction of the PHO and will wait to see what the COVID-19 situation is in BC this fall and any progress on a potential vaccine, before deciding about the summer 2021 semester.

Students who are at Langara on a study permit may contact an International Student Coordinator with immigration or study permit questions. For band-sponsored students who are concerned about their sponsorship eligibility for future terms, we encourage you to review your individual funding agreement, reach out to your band’s education coordinator, or reach out to one of our Indigenous Education and Services team members at indigenous@langara.ca.

We hope that this information helps you prepare for the 2021 spring semester.

As always, your feedback and questions can be sent to us at covidquestions@langara.ca and our latest updates can be found at langara.ca/COVID.
