It’s normal for you to feel stressed, overwhelmed, or worried about how COVID-19 will impact your studies, your health, and those around you. It is a challenging and unprecedented time for all of us. There are a lot of useful resources to help you navigate this world health event we’re facing - please take a few minutes to explore them.

Langara Counselling Department

Brief telephone appointments with Counsellors are available. Contact reception at 604.323.5221 for the available times. Please email counselling@langara.ca for advising and educational support. Include your name, student ID, and a brief description of your question. We are unable to schedule future counselling appointments at this time.

We are currently unable to provide crisis counselling and ask that students who are at imminent risk for suicide contact one of the following crisis communications resources below.

Crisis counselling

  • Empower Me – 24-hour helpline for anyone in crisis. Free counselling for students enrolled in LSU Health & Dental Plan. 1.844.741.6389 (toll-free)
  • Access & Assessment Centre (VGH) – Acute mental health and addiction support including suicidality, psychiatric crises, intake, and referral for those living in Vancouver. See website for contact information.
  • Burnaby Outpatient Mental Health – Call to make an appointment. See website for contact information.

What's open on campus?

The College is open, but many services have moved online. Please note that there have been some changes to our in-person services today:

  • Registrar & Enrolment Services Counter, Continuing Studies Counter, and Student Accounts are closing in-person services and moving services online.
  • Cash payments will no longer be taken on campus. Student Services, Continuing Studies, Registrar and Enrolment Services are accepting online payment. Continuing Studies can take payment over the phone.
  • Fine Arts studios and Makerspace are both closed.
  • All food services will be closed on Friday, March 20 at 2:00 pm. Vending machines will continue to be available.
  • The Community Cupboard will now be available through the HUB
  • Computer labs remain open to students.
  • Langara Child Development Centre (Daycare) is closed.
