Design is a fundamental driver of the creative and knowledge-based economy. Langara's hands-on design courses are modeled upon industry standard practice with projects based on professional workplace criteria and constraints. Students build proficiency with 2D/3D ideation and iteration, analogue and digital processes, concept development, prototyping, and presentation. Through design, students explore, research and develop mindful solutions to real world issues. In first year design, students explore how ideas are both developed and conveyed to others through sketching, visualization, and presentation. In second year, students expand this foundation and begin to integrate digital processes within the creation of a range of functional industrial design prototypes.
