Part-Time Student Loan & Grants for BC Residents

Residents of British Columbia, studying in a 20% or 40% courseload (3–8 credits) may be eligible to apply for part-time student loans and/or grants to support the cost of tuition, books, supplies, transportation, and childcare (up to the funding maximums) for each eligible term through StudentAid BC.

To read more about the BC Residency Requirement, please visit the StudentAid BC Part-time Student Funding page.

Important Changes to Part-Time Applications

StudentAid BC is launching their new online platform called the Student Information Management System (SIMS) which will open for part-time student applications on November 28, 2024.

Effective immediately, StudentAid BC is no longer accepting the old paper-based part-time student aid application.

Langara will be accepting applications for spring 2025, as the deadline to apply for fall 2024 has passed.

If you have questions about this, please contact Financial Aid by email or phone.

How to Apply for Spring Semester 2025

Students wishing to apply for part-time student aid will need to apply through the new online platform. You can access the login page here. Applicants and, if applicable, their spouses must download and set up their BC Services Card App to access SIMS and complete their application online.

For support in navigating the steps to apply in the new system, please visit this link for updated instructions on how to apply for part-time student funding in SIMS.

Eligible applicants who have approved part-time funding and have finalized their registration before the holiday closure may have their confirmation of enrolment completed before the college closure. Any student aid applications processed in SIMS during the holiday closure will be reviewed in early January.
