Financial Aid

Langara College is committed to making students aware of the financial assistance available to them while they pursue their undergraduate studies. In addition to government financial aid, eligible students are also able to apply for bursaries, scholarships and awards to supplement school and day-to-day expenses. If you’re worried about how to stretch your finances, let us help you relieve some stress!

The Langara Bursary is available for students that are able to demonstrate financial need and are in good academic standing. Busary recipients must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons with proof of status and be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits (6 credits for students with a registered disability). Please apply for bursaries by the 15th of the first month of the semester for consideration.  Bursaries are non-repayable so it’s up to you how you want to spend it.  We usually distribute this money towards the latter half of the semester, so please do not count on it going towards tuition. Please apply for consideration.

  • Spring 2018 Bursary Application – Please return to the Registrar’s Office, T101, by January 15th, 2018. Applicants will be notified through email by the end of March 2018.
  • Fall 2017 Bursary Application – Application now closed.  Applicants will be notified through email by the end of November.

The Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP) is a way for Langara departments to hire students who demonstrate financial need to assist with a range of jobs on campus. To be eligible for SWAP students need to fill out a SWAP application, be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits, demonstrate financial need, and have a CGPA of 2.0. If a student is already approved .for a government student loan and grant, financial need is already established.

Work on Campus (WOC) is a new initiative available to students who want to work as a peer tutor or to perform basic research at Langara but does not meet the financial need requirement nor full time enrollment that applies to SWAP students. If you have a strong CGPA, are registered in at least one course (3 credits) and are in good academic standing, please apply for consideration.

Provincial Tuition Waiver Program for BC Youth In Care is a new program that the provincial government has implemented. If you were a youth in care of the Ministry of Child and Family Development for a minimum of 2 years, and are currently between the ages of 19-26, you may be eligible for a tuition waiver. For more information please visit our office. Note: this program is meant to replace Langara College’s Youth in Care Bursary Program.
