Registered Massage Therapy
Academic Requirements
Domestic Applicant: BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent) or be 19 years of age or older
International Applicant: BC Grade 12 Graduation (or equivalent); Or Successful completion of one full academic year OR successful completion of a minimum of 24 university credits at a recognized post-secondary institution
English Language Requirement (one of)
- Minimum 70% in English First Peoples 12, English Studies 12, or Literary Studies 12 (or equivalent)
- Successful completion of a post-secondary English or Communications course for which Langara College awards transfer credit
- A minimum “S” grade in Langara ENGL 1107 or 1110; Or a minimum “C” grade in ENGL 1120
- A minimum score of 3 on the Langara English Test (LET) Domestic students only
- International Baccalaureate (IB) ENGL A (HL or SL) 2; Or IB ENGL LIT & PERFORM (SL) 2
- Advanced Placement (AP) ENGL LIT & COMP 2; Or AP ENGL LANG & COMP 2
- Successful completion of LEAP Level 8 (or equivalent) (see note a)
- IELTS Academic Overall 7.0 with no bands less than 6.5 (see note a)
- TOEFL (IBT) Overall: 92, Writing: 22, Reading: 22, Listening: 22, Speaking: 22 (see note a)
- CAEL Overall 70, Essay: 65 (see note a)
Notes: Assessment test scores are valid for two years from the date they were taken.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of a 2-day Introduction to Massage course or equivalent : The preferred course is Langara's course. Please note that the Langara Intro to Massage course covers some of the questions on the RMT Program Admission Questions document. We also accept courses from other BC RMT schools with similar hours (at least 12 hours long). Provide documentation of successful completion.
- RMT Program Admission Questions : Students must complete the RMT Program admission Questions. Answer each question completely and professionally in a paragraph format (no bullets), and all sub-sections of each question. Please use a maximum of 10-pages to complete the RMT Program Admission Questions.
- Professional Reference Letter : Provide a reference letter from someone who has known you for 5 years, is not a family member, and has a university/college degree. The reference letter must outline the context of the relationship, attest to your personal characteristics of perseverance and ability to deal with stress and include referee credentials. (Proof of diploma not needed).
- Additional Requirements requested after acceptance.

Program Preferences
Preference may be given to applicants who have successfully completed post-secondary anatomy or physiology coursework or have a bachelor's or higher degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution. Please submit your official transcripts from all post-secondary education institutions.
Acceptance to the CS Diploma in Registered Massage Therapy is not guaranteed. RMT Program application packages are processed and assessed as they are submitted. Late submissions will be assessed for the next intake.
Application packages must be complete, including the 2-day Intro to Massage course. Higher-ranking applications are accepted first, until places are filled. Submit your application early.

Application Process
Application Submission Process
Submit a Continuing Studies Online Application:
- Pay your application fee by Visa or MasterCard during the online application process
- Upload all relevant supporting documents during the online application process. Supporting documents can also be submitted later in the Continuing Studies Applicant Portal. Access to the portal will be granted by email after your application is received.
Incomplete applications packages will not be reviewed. Applications will be reviewed after all supporting documents are received and documents need to be in before the application deadline.

- Official high school, college, or university transcript
- Demonstration of English-language proficiency (if using your high school transcript it must be sent to Langara directly using the Student Transcript Service)
- Introduction to Massage proof of completion
- Langara RMT Admission Questions
- Professional Reference Letter
All scanned documents must be PDF format, in color, show the entire page, and include both sides (front and back, even if blank) of all pages. Original documents may be requested at any time. Students who fail to provide official documents as requested may have their application canceled, and/or be blocked from further registration.
International Student application & acceptance specifics
- Provide official documents showing English language proficiency and official test scores. See Acamedic Requirement tab for required minimum scores. The RMT Program does not accept Duolingo scores.
- Official high school, college, or university transcript. Include college /university transcripts even if previous studies have been unrelated to health care.
- Any documents not in English require an official translation.
- Color high quality scan/photo of your photo passport page to verify name and birthdate.
- Include all supporting documents as listed above
International Student payment and Letter of Acceptance process: Allow 4-6 weeks after the international application deadline, for application assessment to be completed.
- The Offer of Admission is sent to accepted international students by email attachment.
- International students must pre-pay the: Semester-1 tuition and the Langara Students' Union fee before the deadline listed in the Offer of Admission.
- Once the fee is received, an official Letter of Acceptance (LOA) is issued. Use this to apply for your study permit along with your Attestation Letter within 45 days of receiving the LOA.
- Apply for a Study Permit at the nearest Canadian embassy or visa office (if applying from overseas) within the required time on the Offer of Admission letter. This does not mean that students must have IRCC approval within this time frame.
Provide a copy of your Canadian work permit or study permit (if applicable) to the Program Coordinator. - NOTE: International student fees are non-refundable except if the study permit has been denied. Official documentation of denial must be submitted.
Competitive Entry Process
Langara highly encourages students to submit their application as soon as possible. All application packages must be complete, and are ranked. We highly recommend potential students first complete 2-3 college/university level anatomy & physiology courses. They prepare students for the RMT Program, and also increase the ranking of your application. Higher-ranking applications are accepted first, until places are filled.
