Artist in Residence

Artist in Residence

Langara College’s Creative Arts and Industries hosts an artist in residence each spring. One of the primary functions of this residency is to provide the artist with time to create a body of work, which will be exhibited at the end of the residency. It is intended to be a community-building project with social advocacy or a social cause at its core.

The residency also offers opportunities for the artist to engage extensively with the Langara College community through lectures, office hours, student mentorships, and studio visits. Program students have the chance to participate as assistants and observers in the process of creating a body of work for exhibit. Langara provides office space, access to studios, equipment, and other supports.

Artist in Residence 2025

Langara College’s Professional Photography department is pleased to host our second Photographer in Residence, Pooya Nabei. Pooya’s residency project, titled “An Old Reverie”, explores the myriad struggles that individuals and families face as they write their stories in a foreign land. An immigrant himself, Pooya has always been fascinated by the profound changes one must navigate to successfully adjust to a new country and culture.
