Camp Details

Langara is offering a wide range of one and two-week camps this summer to help teens explore their creative and practical sides. Check out our camps below and choose the options that suits you. Discounts are available if registering for multiple camps or more than one child in a family. 

Please note: some camps may require students to bring items to participate (eg. headphones, sketch pads). These details are included in the camp description. If you have any questions, please contact Eleanor Clarke

 

Courses

In this camp, participants will go deeper into the technical and productions side of digital music and explore the software that goes into producing; will learn higher levels of music theory to enhance understanding of recording and production; create and produce their own piece. You will visit a recording studio to see what goes into professional production. Participants must have taken Introduction to Digital Music Production prior to registering for the Advanced camp.

This two week acting camp will be led by Bob Frazer, a graduate of Langaras Studio 58 with extensive experience in film, television, and theatre. Learn essential acting techniques and processes used by professional actors in the business to prepare and be ready to act. By focusing on the basics from the beginning stages of scriptwork all the way through to performance, this intensive program will provide learners with the understanding of how to work in the "big three" of acting television, film, and theatre. The culmination of the camp will be a one-hour performance for friends and family.

An exciting 5-day program designed to inspire, challenge, and engage the aspiring teen photographer. Students will have access to Langaras professional photography studios and state-of-the-art equipment.Special Requirements: DSLR Camera

News Alert for all of you would be graphic novel and manga artists out there! Come and explore and tap into your inner Stan Lee with this exciting introduction to the art of comic book creation. In this five day comic book camp you will be introduced to the many different aspects of how a comic book and graphic novel is created from start to finish. Participants will produce a double page spread comic book complete with a group printed anthology they can all be part of.Special Requirements: sketchpad, 05 or 08 black micron pen, ruler, 2H and dark HB pencil , white or Staedler cleaning eraser, cotton rag, roll of toilet paper (yes, you read that correctly)

This camp will take learners beyond simple drawings and into publishing their work for the world to see; learn what will go into actual production of comic books and graphic novel from drawing to production, posting on-line, and creating blogs. Campers must have taken the Calling All Graphic Novels camp to register for the Advanced camp

Learn the process of developing games by making your own! Using a simple C++ engine, gain skills in the basics of object-oriented game development by making a simple 2D game. These skills can be applied to almost any other game engine, 2D or 3D.Special Requirements: Headphones, USB 8 gigs

Join us for a two-week journey into the world of robotics! Working individually and as part of a team, campers will build their own custom VEX competition robot and have it solve a number of challenges and run through obstacle courses. Program the robot using ROBOTIC language; work with a team to compete against fellow campers for bragging rights over having the best bot. Everyone will take home a custom designed 3D license plate for their VEX robot, printed in the state-of-the art Makerspace. Campers should have knowledge of, and be comfortable with, coding.
