Madeline Parrott is an up-and-coming authority in the building envelope field, with a highly varied background in both work and life experience. She has a passion for inter-disciplinary solutions to problems arising from unsustainable building practices.
Maddy graduated Queen’s University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. After working for AMEC, she quickly realized that the already mature field of civil engineering was not her passion. In the spring of 2014, she began the BCIT Master of Applied Science in Building Science program. Her thesis project consists of an in-depth analysis of an under-performing green building, to identify some of the underlying issues and causes related to the performance gap between theoretical and actual performance. Using various tools including energy modelling, systems analysis, and surveys of all major stakeholders, she hopes to create a thorough outline of the major considerations for green building designers to achieve as close to theoretical performance as possible by using a more integrative approach to design.
