Shiraz Charania is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) with a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering.  Shiraz articled with PricewaterhouseCoopers to attain his CA and CBV designations.  Shiraz has taught in-class and online accounting, audit and tax courses for a number of institutes, including Langara College, Douglas College, BC Institute of Technology, CA School of Business and the University of British Columbia.

Lori has had over 14 years of experience as a college instructor teaching Business Communications and Management Communications. She has given over 350 public presentations, written over a dozen magazine articles, reports, procedures manuals and policy guides. She has also been a member of curriculum and recruitment committees.

Barbara has been teaching accounting courses since 1987.  Extensive work experience coupled with 25 years of teaching allows Barbara to bring real life situations into the classroom.   Barbara was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award at BCIT in 2009.

Don has worked as a Certified Management Accountant in a number of managerial finance positions with operational entities including paper manufacturing, dairy processing, energy utility and oil pipeline services, liquor wholesale and retail operations and public transit services in the Vancouver area. Don has been a member of executive and senior management teams and provided strategic direction on business, investment and financial plans, enterprise risk management and business operations. He has taught all levels of management or cost accounting and has developed and delivered a number of internal corporate training courses on financial systems, reporting, business processes, professional standards and best practices.

Akash specializes on advanced accounting topics such as consolidation, financial instruments and foreign exchange.  Akash’s teaching philosophy is to follow a disciplined approach to problems, keeping classes spontaneous and interactive and allowing students to drive the lesson plan.  Akash articled at Deloitte and is currently the Director, Finance & Corporate Controller at BCAA in Burnaby.

Dan Thomas has an extensive oral and written communications background gained in various public and private sector professional environments, ranging from the Government of Canada to tourism and other industries, and including media relations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia, and a Master’s of Defence Studies from Royal Military College.
