LEAP Domestic Applications
We are currently waitlisting domestic students for the January 7 - February 21, 2024 session of LEAP.
Before applying to the waitlist, please read the important LEAP Program Requirements below. When you are ready to apply to the waitlist, please follow the Waitlist Procedures below.
LEAP Program Requirements
LEAP is a full-time, intensive, day-time program. Classes are scheduled Mondays to Fridays from 8:30am – 4:30pm. You must be available to be on campus during this time.
You will have either a morning class (8:30am – 12:20pm) or an afternoon class (12:30 – 4:20pm). You cannot choose your schedule. Your schedule may change from session to session, so please consider the following:
- If you have young children, ensure you have childcare in place before your start date.
- If you have a job, you must make arrangements so that you are in class every day.
Placement Test
- All new students must take the LEAP Placement Test to determine your level. You cannot choose your level.
- The test will be emailed to you 3-5 weeks before the start date.
- During the first week of class, you will be given assessments that will help to confirm your level. Depending on the results, you may be moved to a level that best meets your skills.
Waitlist Procedures
1. Prepare your proof of domestic status, which may include the following:
- Permanent Resident card OR
- Canadian Passport OR
- Canadian Citizenship card OR
- Landing papers (Confirmation of Permanent Residence Document) and Government issued Photo ID
Note: If you are under 19 years of age, you will also need to submit copies of your high school graduation certificate and transcript.
2. Submit a Continuing Studies Online Application:
- Pay your $40 non-refundable application fee by credit card during the online application process
- Upload all relevant supporting documents during the online application process. Supporting documents can also be submitted later in the Continuing Studies Applicant Portal.
Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email from Langara to confirm you have been placed on the waitlist. If space becomes available, you will be contacted by the LEAP Office to complete your registration.
Cancellation Policy
- The $40 application fee is non-refundable. The B.C. government pays $934 tuition for eligible domestic students.
- If you wish to cancel your registration, please contact the LEAP Office as soon as possible. The LEAP office must be notified before the session start date for full government funding to be reversed.
