Conditional Admission
BC secondary school students who are under 19 years of age who will not graduate from secondary school because they are missing only one course and are registered in the missing course may apply for conditional admission.
To be considered for conditional admission, students must submit an Appeal for Conditional Admission or Concurrent Studies Form and ensure that the following information is received by Registrar & Enrolment Services :
- A completed application for admission to a program at Langara. Applications can be submitted through the EducationPlannerBC website and applicants must include their Personal Education Number (PEN).
- An official interim transcript showing that their course is in-progress.
Students who have registered for Langara courses before their final secondary school grades arrive must complete the Appeal for Conditional Admission or Concurrent Studies Form and submit the necessary documentation in order to maintain their course registration. Conditional Acceptance is limited to the fall semester, this form and supporting documentation must be received by Registrar & Enrolment Services at least 10 business days before the first day of fall semester classes. Those students who have not graduated and have not been approved for conditional admission will be removed from any courses they have registered for.
Secondary/Post-Secondary Concurrent Studies
BC secondary students entering or currently in Grade 12 who have demonstrated academic excellence may apply for limited admission to university-transfer or open career courses while attending secondary school.
Enrolment will be restricted to one course (up to four credits) per semester. Admission will be approved on a semester by semester basis until students have met Grade 12 graduation requirements or have reached the age of 19 years.
Students wanting to apply under this category of admission must submit:
- A completed Application for Admission form;
- A completed Appeal for Conditional Admission or Concurrent Studies form;
- A letter of support from a school counsellor, principal or vice principal; and
- An official interim transcript showing completion of their Grade 11 year and current Grade 12 courses.
Appeals for admission and re-admission are accepted at Registrar & Enrolment Services at least 10 business days before the first day of classes of the semester to which the application is made.
Note: Langara College is not able to guarantee registration in specific programs or courses even if students have been granted admission. Successful registration is also dependent upon having the required prerequisites for individual programs and/or courses.
Transferring Credit to Langara for Admission Purposes
Langara's reputation for excellence in the post-secondary system has been earned because of the high level of success our students achieve when they leave to pursue a university degree or embark on their chosen career. More students transfer to BC universities from Langara than from any other college in the province. More importantly, these students do as well as, or better than, students that go to university straight from high school.
Students who apply for admission to the following programs are assessed for eligibility to receive transfer credit as part of the admission process. Students are not required to submit transfer credit requests for the following programs. However, official transcripts are required to be submitted. Course outlines may be required.
- Bachelor of Business Administration, Third Year Entry
- Bachelor of Recreation Management
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Advanced Entry
- Diploma in Nutrition and Food Service Management (Advanced Standing Option)
