This test is for students wishing to enrol in courses covering basic algebra at about the Grade 10 level, like MATH 1101, or intermediate algebra at about the Grade 11 level, like MATH 1150.

This multiple-choice test has three parts. Students should write as much of Parts I and II as they can. Generally, the test questions are ordered by increasing level of difficulty. Entry into MATH 1101 will be determined by performance on the questions in Part I of the MDT. Entry into MATH 1150 will be determined by performance on the questions in Parts I and II.

Students who perform very well on Parts I and II, and who may be ready to enrol in Math 1152, will be asked to complete Part III. (Part III tests more advanced algebra including word problems.)

Students have 90 minutes to complete Parts I and II.

Calculators are not permitted for Math Test 1.
