This test is for students wishing to enrol in courses covering **basic algebra** at about the Grade 10 level, like MATH 1101, or **intermediate algebra** at about the Grade 11 level, like MATH 1150.

This multiple-choice test has three parts. Students should write as much of Parts I and II as they can. Generally, the test questions are ordered by increasing level of difficulty. Entry into MATH 1101 will be determined by performance on the questions in Part I of the MDT. Entry into MATH 1150 will be determined by performance on the questions in Parts I and II.

Students who perform very well on Parts I and II, and who may be ready to enrol in Math 1152, will be asked to complete Part III. (Part III tests more advanced algebra including word problems.)

Students have **90 minutes** to complete Parts I and II.

Calculators **are not permitted** for Math Test 1.
