Getting your LET results online
Please Note
Students will need their Langara Identification Number (LIN).
- Go to the Langara College home page (www.langara.ca).
- Click on “login” (on the top bar of web page).
- Click “OK.”
- Click on “Web Registration System” (in box on right side of page).
- Type your Login ID or LIN (this is your student number).
- Type in your PIN/Password.
- New students are given a default PIN which consists of the first initial of the first name and the first initial of the last name, both in capital letters, followed by a dash and the date of birth in year/month/day format (XX-YYYYMMDD). For example, if your name were Homer Smyth and your birthday were May 18, 1978, your PIN would by HS-19780518.
- Click on “Login” or hit “Enter.”
If this is your first login, you may be asked to create a password reminder, a question and answer in case you forget your password in the future.
- Click on “Students.”
- In the Online Self Service box on the left side, find "Regular Studies Quick Links" and click on it.
- Click on “Student Records.”
- Click on “View Your Prerequisites and Test Scores” - Unless you got a zero, or there is some problem, the LET score will be in this field.
Note: When a student writes the exam more than once, the most recent score counts, not the highest score.
If, after 10 days, the result is not online, email let@langara.ca.
Your prerequisites file contains a table that looks like this. You will find your LET score in the column headed "BC Equiv Grd/Score Rec'd." The following examples explain the score.
A score of zero indicates that there is some problem with the exam that makes it impossible for the markers to determine the correct level of the student. For instance, the essay might be too short or off topic, the exam might be incomplete, or there might be academic dishonesty. Students who receive a score of 0 should email let@langara.ca.
A score of 1 means the student needs to upgrade through ABE or preparatory EAL courses/programs, such as Langara’s LEAP and LEPP offered by Continuing Studies.
A score of 2 means the student's writing shows significant grammatical and sentence structure problems and the student needs to take ENGL 1107. The student may also take CMNS 1114 or CMNS 1115.
A score of LETN 02 means the writing shows significant or persistent patterns of grammatical errors, but the student either has English as a first language or has had a lot of instruction in English. The student needs to take ENGL 1110.
A score of 3 means that the student's writing is adequate, and the student is encouraged to take ENGL 1121 either before or with ENGL 1123, ENGL 1100, ENGL 1129, or ENGL 1130, preferably before. (However, many students go directly into these courses with a score of LET 3.) The student may also take CMNS 1118 or CMNS 1122.
A score of 4 means the writing is at the college/university level and the student is ready to take a first-year university transfer course like ENGL 1123, ENGL 1100, ENGL 1129, or ENGL 1130. The student may also take CMNS 1118 or CMNS 1122.
A score of 5 means the writing is very good, and the student is prepared for a first-year university transfer course like ENGL 1123, ENGL 1100, ENGL 1129, or ENGL 1130. The student may also take CMNS 1118 or CMNS 1122.
