Objective of the Agreement

This document addresses the transferability of students from the Design Formation Diploma Program (DSGN) at Langara College to the Bachelor of Design: Graphic Design for Marketing Program (GDMA) at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. It confirms the agreement for articulation and block transfer as established by Marge Damon, Coordinator, Graphic Design for Marketing (KPU); Marcella Noriega, Department Chair, Design Formation Program (Langara); Carolyn Robertson, Dean, Wilson School of Design (KPU); and Dr. Julie Longo, Dean of Arts (Langara).

In past years, students who have transferred from DSGN at Langara to GDMA at KPU have become excellent contributors to both the GDMA program and the design culture of the Wilson School of Design. It is our intention through this Block Transfer to facilitate a smooth and seamless transfer entry for Langara students into GDMA at the second year level.

The DSGN Program at Langara College merges graphic communication design with interior design and therefore does not have the same focus as the GDMA Program at KPU. However, there are sufficient overlaps in content and learning outcomes to warrant that students who have completed the following courses from the Design Formation· Diploma Program may be recognized as having earned 30 first-year credits towards KPU's Bachelor of Design: Graphic Design for Marketing (GDMA):
