Course Description
This course is designed for English as a Second Language students (and serves as a follow-up course for ENGL 1107) who received a "SR" grade rather than an "S" in ENGL 1107. The course covers writing, grammar and reading at a more advanced level than ENGL 1107, and students with a "Satisfactory" grade in ENGL 1108 may go directly to ENGL 1123. This course does not carry transfer credit and cannot be used toward a certificate, diploma or associate degree. This is a course designed for students of English as a Second Language at the post-secondary level who require additional training in the fundamental skills of reading and writing. It covers both oral and written communication but emphasizes reading and composition. If you have a below-standard score on the LPI or the LET, you may earn entry to ENGL 1123 by achieving a passing mark in ENGL 1107. This course does not carry transfer credit, nor may it be used towards a Langara College credential. Graded S/SR/U.
