Course Description
Students examine security principles, regulations, and practices required of individuals working in the security industry and criminal justice fields. Students will complete the 40 hours of Basic Security Training required of a licensed security guard under the Security Services Act. Students will learn and practice how to interact with the public in ways that promote trust, ensure their own safety and that of others, and follow the law. In addition, students will build awareness of working in diverse security environments, using trauma-informed and relational practices.
Priority registration in this course is offered to students admitted to the Diploma in Criminal Justice, Diploma in Criminal Justice (BBA Transfer Option), and Diploma in Criminology.
