For our students
Starting in a new place can be daunting. Naturally, students find themselves with lots of questions such as where to find tutoring services, career resources, or financial aid. That is where Student Services come in.
They are an integral part of a student's everyday life and greatly need additional funding to expand their offerings to the growing Langara community.
Student Services offer several supports for students including:
- Advisors - guidance for questions about admission.
- Counselling - the Counselling department is free for current students and offers a variety of services including personal, career and educational support.
- Accessibility services - providing support and guidance on a case-by-case basis to arrange appropriate services and accommodation.
- Career resources - students have support from the Co-op and Career Development Centre is a place to access career workshops, resume reviews, interviews, coaching and other resources to find and maintain a career.
- Langara Students Union - LSU advocates for students on their academic goals, and other social issues. They have a dedicated space for students to eat or relax in between classes.
- The Hub - Home of the Office for Student Engagement, the Hub connects students with all sorts of activities and resources across campus including the VOLT volunteer program, student clubs and more. Students are also able to relax and find a quiet space to study here.
- The Learning Commons - students looking for help with research, writing support, or tools to enhance learning, can find them all here.
International Students
Our international students have a dedicated team to help them with everything they need from medical insurance to frequent questions about living in Vancouver. They also have access to Immigration consultants and advisers who can help with questions about permits.
Indigenous Students
Indigenous students have access to a dedicated team through Indigenous Education and Services, where they can seek support for academic advising, educational and personal counselling, and application support for funding. They are also able to find a quiet study space, kitchen facilities, a computer lab and more at The Gathering Space, a space dedicated to Indigenous students.
