For Emmanuel Jamorabon, donating to the Langara College Foundation’s Support Our Students (SOS) campaign is a mutually beneficial act that speaks to his core values. Emmanuel attended Langara College during the 2015–16 academic year before transferring, but his heart never truly left our campus. His connection to the College only deepened when both of his younger sisters became Langarans as well.

“I just had to jump at the chance to give back to the community I was a part of,” he explains.

Not too far removed from his days as a student, Emmanuel empathizes with what some students may struggle with outside of the classroom.

He says, “If I could make it even a little bit easier for a student to achieve their academic goals because they had one less bill or expense to worry about during exam season, that would certainly make my monthly contributions worth it!”

Since returning to the College in April 2023 as the Applied Research Centre’s Research Grants and Contract Officer, Emmanuel has become interested in several Foundation-supported projects including 49 Women in Science and the Emergency Food Assistance program.

“I am especially proud that my donations contribute directly to these projects,” he says. “They greatly align with my values.”

Aside from nourishing his soul, Emmanuel appreciates that the Foundation makes giving back fun and allows him to explore even more of the College’s activities. His monthly contributions come with other benefits as well.

Emmanual adds, “Because I was a donor last year, I was provided with tickets to attend a Studio 58 production. It was a treat for both my guest and me.”

He hopes the Foundation can continue supporting students for years to come.

I know the College has a great culture of giving. I just hope that the Langara Foundation keeps doing what it does best by delivering amazing projects and funding awards that help Langara students on their academic journey.”
