David Bernstein Instructor – Music Theory for the Songwriter

After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 1980 David formed the eclectic pop-jazz band The David Bernstein Group with Rob Williams, Richard King, and Tom Foster. They performed live from 1980 to 1984 and were featured on many television and radio shows across Canada. In 1985 David and Rob formed The Source. From 1985 to 1988 The Source received national Gold Record status with songs  "Dangerline", "Runner", "Tell Me That You Love Me", and "Close Your Eyes". David now concentrates on writing for film and television.

Hazel Fairbairn Instructor – Performance Skills

Hazel comes to Vancouver by way of a successful career as a violinist, songwriter, performer, and instructor in Ireland and England. She has expertise in ProTools, rock, and pop, as well as 20-plus years as an Irish, blue-grass, and Cajun fiddler. She has a PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of Cambridge.

Adam Fulton Instructor – Digital Recording

Adam is an independent producer, musician, and composer for film and animation. He received his degree in music at the prestigious Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). Like so many independent producers, Adam not only produces the work of other artists, but also writes and produces his own personal work, as well as commercial scores. He has worked in many major studios with artists such as Paul McCartney, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Terry Clark, Raghav, and Neil Innes (of Monty Python), and continues to produce independent artists here in Vancouver.

Deborah Holland Coordinator/Instructor – Songwriting

Deborah Holland was the lead singer and songwriter of the critically acclaimed band Animal Logic (with Stewart Copeland of the Police and jazz-bassist Stanley Clarke). She has recorded four solo albums, written dozens of songs for film and television, toured extensively, and appeared on David Letterman, the Tonight Show, MTV, and VH1. She is Professor Emeritus at California State University, Los Angeles, andrecords and tours with the band The Refugees. Her new solo record, VANCOUVER, will be release in June, 2013.

Brian Thompson Music Business and Career Planning

Brian Thompson, is a Vancouver based creative coach and marketing consultant. He's the guy behind Thorny Bleeder, The DIY Daily Newsletter & Podcast, The Music Biz Weekly and The Rock Star Branding Podcast. Through his writing, speaking engagements, teaching, webinars and endless podcasts, Brian has emerged as a vital and well respected voice on the convergence of artist development, marketing, social media and technology.
