Programs

Classes are scheduled in the evening (6:30pm-9:30pm) on weekdays and on Saturday (9:00am-4:00pm). A typical term will include 3-4 evening classes and 1-2 Saturday classes. Students must be available during the above times.

Course schedules are assigned by the Program Coordinator. Students are unable to make individual amendments.

Note: The below course list is not in order of completion.

Attendance Requirement:

Class attendance is important for student success. Students must attend a minimum 80% of course hours per course. Failure to meet this attendance requirement may result in a non-passing grade. Prior to applying to the program, please ensure you are able to attend classes during the above scheduled times.

 

The full-time program option is open to international students only. Canadian citizens or permanent residents can complete the Continuing Studies Diploma in Real Estate on a part-time basis or explore our other certificate options for similar educational outcomes.

The Continuing Studies Diploma in Real Estate delivers a comprehensive body of knowledge and skills for success in the real estate field. For international students, the program can be taken on a full-time basis over two years. The Diploma includes core study courses with specialization in several study areas to allow the participant to pursue a career in many Real Estate disciplines, including Appraisal, Property Management, Construction & Development, and Real Estate Investing.

Courses are scheduled on weekday evenings (6:30pm-9:30pm), and Saturdays.

Demonstrated Knowledge Requirement (2)
Students complete the following 2 courses in the first term of studies unless they can provide proof of having completed a comparable course in Canada (assessed by Program Coordinator).

  • BSAD 1029 - Microsoft Office
  • PROP 1037 - Real Estate Math Tutorial

Program Recognition: Graduates of the CS Diploma in Real Estate can earn an RI designation from the Real Estate Institute of BC. (See website for full RI designation requirements)

Graduation Requirements

Minimum grade required for each course:     C+

To qualify for a Continuing Studies credential, students must complete at least 50% of the required course hours at Langara College Continuing Studies. Unless approval from the Program Coordinator is granted, this must be the final 50% of the program.  Students who have completed previous course work and would like to have courses assessed for prerequisites or exemptions towards the certificate must provide documents in the form of official transcripts to the Program Coordinator (real-estate@langara.ca).

Upon successful completion of all required courses, students can submit an Application for Graduation form to the Continuing Studies Registration Office.

This program is open to international students only. Canadian citizens or permanent residents should explore our other certificate options for similar educational outcomes.

The Real Property certificate program is a full-time, 1 year program designed to explore a variety of Real Estate topics. Covering similar subject matter as our Diploma in Real Estate but in a shorter duration, graduates of this program can use the knowledge gained as a solid foundation for further education in their career of choice or for potential pathways to meet licencing education requirements for a variety of real estate professions.

Courses are scheduled on weekday evenings (6:30pm-9:30pm), and Saturdays.

The Construction Standards certificate program is a full-time, 1 year program providing a strong practical foundation in construction management. The certificate provides valuable education for a career in the construction and development field. The certificate program includes the seven core competencies to satisfy the educational requirements for applying for a Builder Licence at BC Housing.
