Langara College is a leading provider of classroom-based real estate education. We offer programs and courses in property management, building management, appraisal, development, and social housing management. Certificate programs are flexible and self-paced, conveniently offered during evenings and weekends.
Our programs are recognized by the University of British Columbia, the Appraisal Institute of Canada, the Professional Association of Managing Agents, B.C. Non-Profit Housing Association, and BC Financial Services Authority.

The part-time Certificate in Property Management program delivers a comprehensive body of knowledge and skills for success in the property management profession. The certificate requires completion of six required courses plus a minimum 84 hours of elective courses.

The residential and commercial property management courses examine legal, operating, and management topics in regard to residential rental buildings, residential strata buildings, and commercial/investment properties including office, retail, and shopping centre developments. The balance of the program develops essential skills in communications, negotiation, dispute resolution, financial statement review, and building operations. The program curriculum is designed to give students a thorough understanding of the foundations of professional property management. You may register in any individual course.
BCFSA Property Management Licencing:
For information on licensing and licensing courses related to the property management profession, visit the BC Financial Services Authority website. A property management license may not be required in certain circumstances.
Students interested in completing courses for BCFSA property management licencing purposes should complete the following elective courses:
- PROP 1004 - Real Estate Law (39 hours)
- PROP 1005 - Real Estate Appraisal (39 hours)
- PROP 1020 - Real Estate Investment Analysis (39 hours)
Credential Eligibility
To qualify for the certification, students must complete 295 hours of course work. Successful completion of all the required courses with a minimum C+ grade in each course is required. All requirements must be completed within four years of starting the program. Students can complete the program as quick as 3 terms (1 year).
Courses may be taken individually as long as individual course prerequisites are met. Students completing the certificate do not need to apply to the program as registration is by course. There are no academic requirements for students to start the program.
