Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about Adult Mandarin Program and Children Mandarin Program.

Children 5 years old and up may enroll in the kindergarten Foundational course, children 6 and over may enroll in the Grade 1 courses. 

New to this language adult students may start from Level 1. Assessment is available for students who have previous experience in learning Mandarin language by email to rlouie@langara.ca.

No. However, there are children's courses and adult courses available  at the same time on Saturdays.

Mandarin Language courses:
  • Kindergarten and Foundational K
  • Gr 1 - 12 Conversational
  • Gr 1 - 12 Mandarin in Simplified or Traditional Characters 
Fine Arts courses:
  • Children Drawing (age 12 and under) 
  • Pencil and Charcoal Drawing (age 8 and over) 
Mathematics courses

Online registration for Children Mandarin is not available. Please call Continuing Studies Registrar 604.323.5322 to register or visit Langara Continuing Studies registrar counter in person using VISA or MasterCard. 

Students are encouraged to have their Langara student id (9-digit number) and the Course number(5-digit number) ready before calling or visiting Continuing Studies Registrar during Office hours: 

Monday to Thursday 9am~4:30pm, Friday 9am~4pm, Saturday and Sunday closed. 

All refunds are subject to an administration fee of 20% of the course fee (up to a maximum of $35 per course). Notice of withdrawal must be received 24 hours prior to the course start day. We would be pleased to hold a 100% credit of the registration fee toward taking another Langara Continuing Studies course. This credit is valid for 12 months. 

*There are NO refunds issued or credit reserved after course start day.
