Based on Jon Kabat-Zinns approach to mindfulness, learn how to cope with and relieve stress, pain, and illness by focusing on your sensations, thoughts, and emotions in a non-judgmental way. Participants explore the relationship between mind and body and recognize how to mobilize their inner psychological resources for self-care. Please bring a mat or blanket.

Experience positive change in how you relate to thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations. Through the use of mindfulness-meditation, cognitive therapy, yoga, and self-compassion discover techniques to manage difficult moods, negative thought processes, and painful emotions. Note: Instructor will contact you prior to the first day of class for a pre-class interview.

Courses

Designed for those pursuing a career in massage therapy, and those with a general interest in massage. Learn how to give a basic relaxation massage in this 2-day weekend workshop. Taught by an experienced Registered Massage Therapist, you are introduced to topics such as: proper massage table set up, client draping, body mechanics and basic Swedish massage techniques. NOTE: Students have two attempts to complete this course. NOTE: To register, call the CS Registration Office at 604.323.5322. NOTE: Students with an open personal injury claim (ex: ICBC or WorkSafe) are not eligible to take this course. Please wait until your claim is resolved, and your health is stabilized.

Therapeutic Touch (TT) is a gentle, holistic practice designed to balance the human energy field. This experiential course will give students the foundational skills required to practice Therapeutic Touch. Students will begin to explore the history, theory, assumptions, phases and applications of a Therapeutic Touch session as well as the benefits of a healing lifestyle.

Participants will deepen their understanding and experience of the Therapeutic Touch process by modulating and directing energy through a broader range of techniques. This practical class will include sustained centering, rebalancing the energy field, and two-person practice. Techniques and knowledge will build upon Foundations for Therapeutic Touch (previously Therapeutic Touch Level 1).
