  • In order to write the NCLEX you are required to show a pass grade on your CELBAN. This course provides you with the tools to learn and practice the types of questions asked by the Canadian English Language Benchmark Assessment for Nurses (CELBAN).
  • CELBAN is designed to assess the nursing-specific English language skills of international nurses wanting to work in Canada.
  • If you are a foreign trained nurse, and wish to practice as a nurse in Canada there are a number of steps required in the process including writing the NCLEX.   • This course provides students with english language skills lessons and practice exams for those who want to work to work as healthcare professionals, particularly as a nurse, in an English-speaking environment.
  • Lessons are prepared and delivered around the three test outcomes of the CELBAN: Reading, Writing and Listening

  • CELBAN provides some resources online http://www.celbancentre.ca/prepare.aspx to help study for the exam.
  • These resources would be useful to review before taking the Langara course, but you are not required to do so. 
  • Please note that we are currently not aware of the ability to access mock exams through CELBAN, rather there are study tips and a Test Information Manual that are helpful to review.

No, there are no required English Language bench marks required, but please note this is not a 'learn to speak English' course. 

This class is intended for students who need to write the official CELBAN test. It is similar IELTS. Although anyone can enroll, it is not designed as an English course.

The Langara course offers a number of practice tests throughout the learning process. You can expect your mark to be close to the mock exams you do in course.
