KAREN VANDERHEYDEN | INSTRUCTOR

I have been working in the Langara English for Academic Purposes (LEAP) program for the last 20 years. The best thing about teaching in this program is to work virtually with students from all over the world. Currently, I have students from seven different countries in my class. There are three things that sets LEAP apart from other English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programs. First, our curriculum has been built in house by our own team of instructors. Second, we adopt an integrated skills model; teaching all the skills within a given assignment or project, i.e., academic reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, which better prepares students for regular studies and university transfer programs. And third, the program employs a team-teaching model which nurtures collaboration and innovation at all levels of the program”. – Karen Vanderheyden, Langara Continuing Studies LEAP instructor.
