This devised show was born out of my fascination with the boy band phenomena, the manufacturing of fame, the performance of a very specific idea of masculinity and the intense joy so many of us feel when we hear one of those famous boy band songs. Studio 58 is a special place full of incredible talent, enthusiasm, rigour and heart - I felt this with every rehearsal. The cast threw themselves into my unique way of creating and said “yes” to our journey into the comedy and pain of We Are Boy Band. My gratitude to the team of passionate and brilliantly designers, stage management and production. “I want it that way.”

A thank you to everyone at Studio 58 - your care and artistry are incredible! And to the SFU Rep Dancers 2024 who were the first to embody boy band as experimental dance performance - you inspired!
