Langara Falcons name Cassidy Kannemeyer as head coach of the Men's Basketball program.

snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College is excited to welcome Cassidy Kannemeyer as the new head coach of the Langara Falcons men’s basketball program.
Cassidy has an extensive post-secondary coaching background with a proven track record as a recruiter and program builder,” said Sean Shook, Manager, Athletics and Campus Recreation. “His ability to make connections and build relationships with recruits, student-athletes, and the campus community will make a tremendous impact.”
Kannemeyer joins the Falcons after serving as the lead assistant coach at the University of Fraser Valley the past two years.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to join the Falcons,” said Kannemeyer. “As a Langara alum, I know the long tradition of excellence with the men’s basketball program. I look forward to building a championship culture both on and off the court.”
During the 2022-23 season, Kannemeyer helped lead the Cascades to the Canada West playoffs for the second straight season. Prior to that he was the head coach at Capilano University for six seasons and also spent five seasons as the lead assistant at Quest University.
A graduate of Gladstone Secondary, Kannemeyer continued his education at Langara College before finishing his Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of British Columbia.

Langara Falcons name Alvin Prasad as head coach of the Women's Soccer program.

Vancouver, BC – Alvin Prasad has been named head coach of the Langara Falcons Women’s Soccer Program, Manager, Athletics and Campus Recreation, Sean Shook announced today.
“We were impressed with Alvin’s experience, energy and vision for the program.” said Shook. “As a former Falcon he has deep roots to the campus as both a student and National Champion athlete.”
Since 2015 Prasad has been coaching with Fusion Football Club. He has coached both girls and boys sides in the BC Soccer Premier League. Prasad has also held coaching positions with Streetball FC (Gothia Cup Champions, Sweden) and Vancouver Football Club.
After graduating from Richmond High School, Prasad played 3 years for the Falcons. A defensive stalwart, Prasad was part of the back to back Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship winning Men's Soccer team during the 1999 and 2000 campaigns.
"It means a lot to come back to the place that provided so much for me in my collegiate years.”, said Prasad, “Creating a positive environment and space for the student athletes to both excel academically and on the field, is most important. I'm looking forward to getting to know the group and starting the process."

Sean Shook - New Manager, Athletics & Campus Recreation
The Athletics and Intramurals department is excited to welcome Sean Shook to the team. He will join the College on Tuesday, October 11 in the role of Manager, Athletics and Campus Recreation. We are thrilled to welcome Sean to the Manager’s role. He brings with him a wealth of experience that will only benefit our students, staff, and coaches.
Sean has 15 years of athletics administrative experience working in various roles with the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Most recently, Sean served as the Athletic Director at Quest University Canada.
Sean looks forward to getting started at the College, saying, “I am very excited and honoured to serve as Langara College’s Manager of Athletics and Campus Recreation. I believe Langara is a special place where students can excel academically and make connections across the entire campus community. This is a prime opportunity to build and expand offerings on the great work that has been done before me.”
He also has over 20 years of professional basketball coaching experience starting at the high school level at Meridian High School and Blaine High School (both in Washington state) before moving north of the border to hold head and assistant coaching positions at Quest University Canada and Simon Fraser University (SFU). In his most recent role as Assistant Coach of Men’s Basketball at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Sean contributed to the team’s outstanding record of 72 wins and 21 losses over three seasons. A coaching highlight for Sean is UBC’s Canada West Championship win in 2020.
