Alec Jacobson

Langara Professional Photography and Continuing Studies Photography, in conjunction with the Schwartz Family, are proud to present renowned photojournalist Alec Jacobson.

Alec Jacobson is a photographer and writer based in Vancouver, BC who likes to dive deep into slow-moving, human stories about natural resources, the environment, indigenous culture, and travel. Drawing on his studies in Anthropology, French and Arabic at Amherst College, he prefers to be the only journalist within a few hundred miles. He is a National Geographic Explorer and has received two grants from the National Geographic Society - in 2015 and 2018 - to document fishing issues on Lake Victoria.
