Langara College continued collective bargaining discussions with its employee groups throughout late November, December, and into January. These monthly updates are shared to help keep our community informed and to support transparency as this important work continues.
Langara Faculty Association (LFA)
- The College and the LFA met nine times between November 18 and January 9, including three sessions in the final week prior to the College’s winter closure, reflecting the shared commitment and effort both parties have brought to this process.
- During these meetings, the parties engaged in in-depth discussions on most non-monetary proposals, creating space for thoughtful dialogue about priorities and perspectives.
- Subject to ratification by both parties, agreement was reached on five additional proposals.
- Conversations to date have been respectful and focused on understanding each other’s interests and concerns, with an emphasis on listening and clarity.
- In addition to discussions at the bargaining table, two joint committees with representatives from both sides were established to support more focused and transparent conversations on specific proposals where deeper exploration can help move issues forward.
- The next bargaining dates are scheduled for January 22 and 23, with additional dates confirmed throughout February.
Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)
- The College and CUPE held their first bargaining session on December 15, during which the parties entered into a protocol agreement, setting a shared foundation for future discussions.
- The next CUPE bargaining sessions are planned for the first week of February.
The College appreciates the time, care, and professionalism being brought to bargaining by all participants. Further updates will be shared as discussions continue.
