Judge Reg Harris was only eighteen and finishing his first year of Langara’s Criminal Justice Program when the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) made a class visit. They recruited him from Langara which began his sixteen-year successful career as a police officer. Reg worked in various areas in the VPD including the emergency response team, media relations, drug squad, training and surveillance.
Reg attended the UBC Faculty of Law as a mature student and while still working for the VPD. He was called to the bar in 1998 and subsequently worked with a private law firm where he
focused on criminal defence and administrative law. He later became a senior partner with the firm Smart, Williams & Harris.
In February, 2010, Reg was appointed to the bench of the British Columbia Provincial Court in Surrey. Currently he is a BC Provincial Court Judge in Vancouver Criminal Court.
