Gary MasonGary Mason earned his diploma in Journalism from Langara College in 1982 and was employed by the Victoria Times Colonist before joining The Vancouver Sun.  He worked at the Sun for 19 years in a variety of roles, including legislative bureau chief, editor, and deputy managing editor. Gary is well-known for writing a popular sports column. He joined the Globe and Mail in 2005 as a national columnist writing about BC affairs.

Gary is a six time recipient of the Jack Webster Award, the highest journalism honor presented in BC, including Commentator of the Year in 2010. Nominated three times, Gary won the National Newspaper Award in 2000 and 2002. Gary is the author and co-author of six books, including the recent No. 1 bestseller Patriot Hearts, which he co-wrote with John Furlong.
