Langara College honours Ujjal Dev Singh Dosanjh for his personal achievements and dedication to his community and country. Born in India in 1947, Dosanjh immigrated to the United Kingdom in 1964 and then to Canada in 1967. He earned 63 credits at Langara College, while working manual labour at a sawmill, before transferring to the University of British Columbia to complete his law degree.
Dosanjh entered BC provincial politics in 1991, serving as the Attorney General from 1995 to 2000. In 1999 he became the 33rd Premier of British Columbia, the first Indo-Canadian to serve as a provincial leader. In 2004, he entered national politics and is currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Vancouver South.
