Why did you choose Langara to study?

To be honest, I didn’t really have much of a choice. Coming out of high school, I did not make it into other post-secondary institutions that I wanted so I came to Langara. It is a decision I do not regret! I found that not only did Langara have smaller class sizes and was more affordable, but that it also helped me really understand the purpose of a pathway college. It allows people like myself to start their studies and prepare to transfer to a university. Ultimately, it was a very good decision. I had an excellent learning experience and made many friends.

How did your time at the College contribute to your career?

I stumbled into the computer science program at the College and met an amazing instructor and department head back then by the name of Habib Kashani. He convinced me to try the program. It was a tough program, tougher than it needed to be, but they were trying to set a high standard to prepare us for university. That is how I ended up in IT.

What’s your favourite memory of Langara?

My favourite memories were time spent with friends playing cards in the cafeteria as a student. We were a rowdy bunch. Now that I am an employee, there are just too many and I can't choose just one.

What is a fun fact that you would like to share with us?

I love to dance West Coast Swing; it was a passion of mine before the pandemic. Since Covid-19, I have been focusing on work work work!

Thanks for sitting down with us, Justin!
