Why did you choose Langara to study?

Starting with a community college was the best option for me. The environment was perfect to begin  my career. Most of my courses were UBC transferable which would help me complete a bachelor's degree in the future.

How your time at the College contributed to your career?

The time at Langara contributed greatly towards the start of my career. My studies and all the activities I participated in helped me build my network around the College. For over a year, I worked as a student worker on campus which helped me to practice and improve my skills and build relationships. I also gained a greater understanding of the higher education industry and the College environment.

What’s your favourite memory of Langara?

My favorite memory at the College was the day we celebrated Community Day in 2019. It was a huge party and part of Langara’s 49th anniversary celebrations. It was a whole new experience for me and a lot of fun. It was similar to a college festival and I met a lot of new people that day.

What is a fun fact that you would like to share with us?

The average length of an interview is forty minutes but the average time it takes for a hiring manager to know if they will hire that candidate is ninety seconds.  Another interesting thing I learned over the last five years is that your networking skills will contribute a lot more to getting your dream job than your grades.

Thanks for sitting down with us, Jatin!
