Olimpia began her Langara journey in spring 2014. At first, her idea was to transfer within two years to continue her education and began volunteering to gain experience. But things don’t always turn out as one plans.

After taking a three-year break from Langara, Olimpia came back to finish her studies in 2019 where she graduated with a Diploma in Marketing Management (Co-op Designation) and an associate degree in Latin American Studies in 2021 and has recently graduated with her Bachelor of Business Administration Marketing Management in 2022.

During her time here at Langara, Olimpia has volunteered in clubs, New Student Orientation, Parent Orientation, and as an E-Team Leader. After meeting the incredible group of volunteers that are passionate, approachable, and friendly, she realized she did not want to leave Langara. She has formed friendships over the years with her fellow volunteers. “I wanted to keep in touch with the family I had built at Langara. Volunteering is second nature to me and having the chance to continue this opportunity is what made me come back”, said Olimpia.

The Alumni Engagement Team is an incredible opportunity to give back."

Gratitude is a big part of Olimpia’s life and when we asked her if she had a Langaran in mind to thank, she immediately knew who. “During my time at Langara, I had students and staff alike inspire and support me. One of these incredible people is my marketing instructor, Stephanie Koonar, who gave me aspirations to be the marketer that I want. She taught me how to have fun in business, learn new techniques, and create a personal career journey.”

Currently, Olimpia is working as an Office Administrative Assistant at the Langara College Foundation. Olimpia plans to move to Europe and help connect Langara alumni internationally through volunteering.

“Big thanks to Stephanie Koonar who taught me how to create a personal career journey."
