Conference: Advancing Massage Therapy Education in Canada  

Theme: Innovating Pedagogy. Empowering Educators. Transforming Educational Practice.

We formally invite Post Secondary Educators, Massage Therapy Educators and Massage Therapy Schools across Canada to submit abstracts for the following: workshops, poster presentations, or panel discussions at this 3-day groundbreaking conference in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. 

 

Our goal is to foster dialogue and share best practices to advance massage therapy education.  

 

Topics of interest include, but not limited to:

 

  • Pedagogy & Andragogy for Applied Education  

  • Neurodiversity in Adult Learning  

  • Indigenization & De-colonization in Education  

  • Integrating AI into Massage Therapy Education.  

  • Trauma-Informed Education Strategies  

  • Authentic Assessment Vehicles  

  • Embodied Education

  • Ethical Decision-Making Frameworks

  •  

Submission Guidelines:  

  • Abstract length: 250–300 words  

  • Include: Title, Author(s), Affiliation, Session Type (Workshop, poster presentations, panel)  

  • Language: English  

  • Format: Word or PDF  

  • Deadline: August 15th 2026

A maximum of 12 authors may be included in the abstract. For all document formats, ensure that your abstract text is no more than 300 words. The word count does not include title and author names, but may include any references listed (optional). Make sure you adjust your abstract according to the chosen area of inquiry; either empirical, theoretical, literature review, or practice-based. Further details for all presentation formats will be available upon notification of accepted abstracts.

Submissions will be considered for the following.

 

Poster presentation  

A gallery of selected posters will be displayed at the conference. Presenters will be asked to be available at a designated time in the poster hall to engage with participants during the conference. 

 

Workshops  

Workshops last 60 minutes and may have up to four presenters. Preliminary presenters and roles to be listed in the abstract. Workshop structure will include no less than 70% group work opportunities for the participants. Presenters should include a specific problem or questions to be addressed, an outline of the workshop, and a description of the interactive activities. The conference organizers can provide materials such as paper, pens, markers, post its, et cetera, if this is indicated in the abstract. 

 

Symposium/panel  

Symposium/panel lasts 60 minutes and can have up to 6 presenters. Preliminary presenter/s and roles to be listed in the abstract. Successful Symposium/Panels submission will be grouped into comparable topic areas and should focus on a specific problem, theme, or question. The Conference Organizing team will be the moderator for the symposium. The abstract for symposia/panel should include an overall aim and outline, as well as brief descriptions of each of the presentations.

Applied Pedagogy & Andragogy: Advanced teaching methodologies for adult learners.
Neurodiversity in Adult Learning: Creating inclusive environments for diverse cognitive needs.
Indigenization & Decolonization: Integrating Indigenous perspectives and frameworks into curricula.
AI Integration: Leveraging artificial intelligence tools in massage therapy training.
Trauma-Informed Education: Implementing safety-first instructional strategies.
Authentic Assessment: Designing meaningful, real-world evaluation metrics.
Embodied Education: Connecting somatic awareness with academic learning.
Ethical Frameworks: Structuring robust ethical decision-making in educational settings.
