Courtenay Dobbie

Courtenay Dobbie Theatre Scholarship

Courtenay Dobbie, a cherished figure in Canadian theatre, passed away on November 22, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of innovation, passion, and dedication to the arts. She served as the Artistic Director of both the Caravan Farm Theatre in Armstrong, BC, and Studio 58, Langara College’s prestigious theatre program. A graduate of Studio 58 herself, Courtenay’s artistic journey was shaped by her love for collaboration and her commitment to storytelling in harmony with nature and community.

Courtenay’s influence extended beyond her roles. She wrote and co-wrote plays, founded a theatre company with collaborators (Theatre Melee), and pursued a master’s degree in directing (UBC). Her colleagues and students remember her as a beacon of inspiration, whose passion for the arts transformed those around her.

The Courtenay Dobbie Theatre Scholarship recognizes exemplary students enrolled in the Theatre Arts at Studio 58 programs. Your generosity will help spark a passion for theatre in the next generation of artists.

Bruce Kennedy

Bruce Kennedy Scholarship

The Bruce Kennedy Scholarship recognizes Theatre Arts at Studio 58 students who demonstrate a strong aptitude for both acting and production.

Duncan McCallum

Duncan McCallum Athletic Scholarship

Duncan McCallum dedicated his career to Langara College and its students. As men’s basketball coach (1970–1991) and the College’s first Director of Athletics (1970–1994), he built one of Canada’s most successful collegiate athletic programs. Duncan also taught in the Kinesiology Department, shaping countless students. His impact on Langara and the sport community across B.C. and Canada is profound. The Duncan McCallum Athletic Scholarship honors student-athletes for their athletic excellence and academic achievement, continuing his legacy of leadership and mentorship.

“The decision I made to play for him was one of the best decision of my life. Not only did he teach me skills on the basketball court and in the classroom but he taught me about life. To me Duncan was a teacher, a Basketball Coach, an Athletic Director, a mentor and a father figure."
