Vancouver, BC – snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓ Langara College is proud to host the 2022 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Men’s Soccer National Championship later this year.
The Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) institution will host the event in Langley, BC, from Nov. 9-12, 2022.
“Langara will once again be partnering with the Langley Events Centre (LEC) to provide a first-class experience for the student-athletes, team personnel, fans and officials,” said Jake McCallum, Tournament Chair and Director, Athletics & Intramurals at Langara College.
“We look forward to welcoming the country to the West Coast for an experience that is second to none.”
All matches at the LEC will take place at the Willoughby Community Park’s Norwest Premier Field, which offers Polytan Ligaturf RS+ field – the same product which is used in B.C. Place, home of the Vancouver Whitecaps of the Major League Soccer.
The tournament will feature eight teams from across Canada: conference champions from the PACWEST, Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC), Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA), Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) as well as a wildcard team and the host Falcons.
The PACWEST has medalled at 12 of the last 13 CCAA Men’s Soccer Championships.
“PACWEST teams are always highly competitive within their own conference, and this has proven valuable in preparing them to contend at CCAA Championships,” said David Munro, CCAA Men’s Soccer Convenor. “This trend should continue as the conference champion from BC and host team will be in a familiar setting and have local fans cheering them on.”
Langara, which has proudly earned 25 CCAA and 172 PACWEST titles, has won four CCAA Championship crowns in men’s soccer (2000, 1999, 1993, 1992).
The Falcons, who last hosted the 2019 CCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship, have welcomed the top teams in CCAA Men’s Soccer on three other occasions (2006, 2005, 2000).
