Born and raised in Smithers BC, Silken was thrilled to wave goodbye to the single-gated airport and fly off to pursue her dreams of acting in the concrete jungle of Vancouver. Now a soon-to-be graduate of Studio 58, she is grateful to have had the privilege to live, work and play on the unceded traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations. Some of Silken’s past productions include A Doll’s House Project, TomorrowLove, and The Wax in His Wings (Studio 58), for which she was a co-creator and performer, as well as her role as Shipyard Sal in the Shipyard Pals Story-Filled Walks (North Vancouver Museum and Archives). Keep an eye out for her upcoming solo show, a project in which she enjoyed the freedom, power, and sheer terror of being her own one-woman team. Silken is now itching to go out into the world and learn as much as she possibly can about the various aspects of art and creation.
