Students who have earned transfer credit for IB or AP French need not take FREN 122 or 123.

2Students who have earned transfer credit for AP French Literature need not take FREN 220 or 221.

3Students who have completed (François langue 12) with high academic standing in secondary school may take FREN 224(3) and FREN 225(3) in place of all FREN 122, FREN 123, FREN 222 and FREN 223.

4Native French speakers who received their secondary education in French in a French speaking society need not take FREN 122, 123, 222 or 223, although these exemptions do not reduce the total of 120 credits required for the B.A.  They are also encouraged, though not required, to substitute all of FREN 328, 329 and 330 for the usual combination of FREN 220 and 221 and a single 300-level literature course. Other students seeking advanced placement should speak with a departmental advisor and should take the appropriate placement test available from the Department
