Overview

Since 2014, Langara College has served as the Vancouver venue for a two and a half year University of Northern British Columbia Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree program for students.

Classes are offered in a mixed delivery model and include weekday evenings, weekends, and online classes. It also includes two practica that take place in the fall of 2021 and 2022. As this is a cohort program, it provides rich networking and relationship building opportunities.

UNBC’s Social Work program acknowledges the holistic, interdisciplinary, and activist nature of social work and its commitment to social justice. Incorporating critical social thinking including structural, feminist, and anti-racist analyses, the program strongly connects practice with theory; it strives to develop critical self-awareness in students, and respect for the ideas of others.

The UNBC BSW program is designed to prepare students for beginning level, generalist social work practice with individuals, families, groups, and communities. This unique delivery of a BSW program is ideally suited for part-time working professionals. Students will be able to complete the program without leaving the Lower Mainland and can easily access the campus via the Canada Line.
