Employee Orientation

The College hosts orientation for new employees once a month. Orientation sessions are mandatory for all new employees and managers are reminded to make accommodations for their employees to attend. Please contact hrupdate@langara.ca for more information about orientation and to find out when the next orientation session is scheduled to take place. 

Respectful Workplace Training

Langara is dedicated to maintaining a healthy, safe, supportive, and non-discriminatory work environment for its employees. All employees have the right and responsibility to be treated and to treat others with respect and dignity.

Please schedule time for the new employee to complete Respectful Workplace training, as required by our collective agreements and WorkSafeBC. You can access more information on our Respectful Workplace page.

Cybersecurity Awareness Training

Langara College is committed to protecting our learning environment from cybercrime. All new employees will receive an email with a unique link to a virtual, on-demand training session, and must complete the training within their first 30 days.

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training

If you work in an area that handles hazardous materials, you can sign the employee up for required training on the WHMIS page. Visit the Safety and Security website to learn about other health and safety training programs offered to employees.

Content Management System (CMS) Training

If the new employee needs to be trained on the CMS, you can connect with your Communications Officer for more information. Training (and refreshers) are provided by C&M’s Digital Team for employees who are authorized to make website updates; training can be tailored for a group of employees within a department, or handled one-on-one.
